2018 Respiratory Symposium
Taking Respiratory Care Beyond the Rhetoric - Less Talk More Action
Respiratory Symposium 15 April 2016, Hamilton: Powerpoints shared by presenters:
NB: The charts of currently funded inhalers are kindly shared by Helen Cant, Clinical Pharmacist, Tokoroa. Please be aware that these documents were originally designed at a local level as a guiding explanation as to where the new inhalers fit in the overall picture. They will become out-of-date if/when PHARMA change the funding criteria or if any of the suppliers change their packaging. It does not include inhalers that are not subsidised in New Zealand as of 1 March 2016.
The author also acknowledges that references are not supplied. Respiratory physician Dr Cat Chang points out that all the new inhalers have limited post-marketing outcomes data, and advised care with prescribing until longer term outcomes are known. She also advised caution in patients with cardiovascular disease when considering prescribing anticholinergics and the new long-acting muscarinic antagonists (LAMAs).
